Spectator mode for Ome.tv

OME Spectator puts two Ome.tv strangers in front of each other. You open Ome.tv in two browsers, your own two or yours and a friend’s, each browser is matched with a different stranger, and the extension passes each stranger’s camera and sound to the other. They see and hear each other while you watch. Your own microphone stays muted until you choose who hears you. It needs VIP, and a friend who joins needs VIP too.

With VIP. A friend who joins your session needs VIP too.

Two browsers, two strangers, and each one sees the other.

How it works

  1. Open ome.tv in two browsers

It takes two browsers rather than two tabs because Ome.tv keeps one chat session per browser, so two tabs of the same browser talk to the same stranger.

  2. Start Spectator in one

Your second browser on the same account joins by itself. A friend’s browser joins with a code.

  3. Watch

Each browser meets a different stranger, and each stranger sees and hears the other. You stay muted until you choose who hears you.

Where the video goes

OME Spectator sends each stranger’s video and sound over WebRTC between the two browsers in the bridge, directly when they can reach each other and otherwise through the same relay server, which forwards encrypted media it cannot decrypt and does not store. Nothing is recorded. A safety scan of the passed-on video runs in each browser, and an explicit picture skips the call.
