Frequently Asked Questions
Seeing an error on ome.tv right now?
Red bar, popup or frozen page, match what's on your screen and we'll walk you through the fix one step at a time.
Getting Started
An overlay that runs on Ome.tv alongside the site. The moment somebody connects to you it shows their country, city, internet provider and a map pin on screen, before you have said anything.
Most people install it as a browser extension, which is a one-time setup. There is also a second route where you paste a script into the browser console each time, for computers where you are not allowed to install anything. Both are written out in Getting started.
Any Chromium-based browser works: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and others. Firefox is not supported due to its aggressive fingerprint blocking which breaks the script.
If you’re using Brave, make sure to disable fingerprinting protection globally before using the script: Shields → Block fingerprinting → Disabled.
- Log in with Discord on this site.
- Complete verification in #verify by reacting to the message in our Discord server.
- Open your Dashboard and download the extension.
- Unzip it, then on your browser's extensions page turn on Developer mode and use Load unpacked to pick the folder.
- Sign in once on the page that opens. Open ome.tv and the overlay loads itself.
Cannot install anything on this computer? Generate a script on the Dashboard instead and paste it into the browser console on ome.tv, which you repeat each time you open the site. Every step of both routes, including three ways to open the console, is in Getting started.
No traditional account needed. You sign in with your existing Discord. No email or password required.
Safety & Privacy
The core of it reads the network address of your Ome.tv connections, which your browser already receives during every video chat, and looks the location up for you. It runs only on ome.tv and our own site. It cannot read your passwords, your files or your other tabs, and your browser is what enforces that rather than us.
Two things people are surprised by, so they are worth stating here: some optional features look at video frames, and the extension removes one of ome.tv's security headers so the overlay can run there at all. Both are explained in full, along with what leaves your computer and what you can check yourself, in Is this safe?
If a scanner or an AI assistant has told you our script is malicious, that guide explains exactly what it is reacting to and why it is not wrong about the pattern. Comparing it against something you found on Greasy Fork? A userscript and an extension are not the same thing, and the difference decides what either one may reach.
If the question is about the platform rather than about us, is Ome.tv safe? covers the risks of random video chat itself: what a stranger can see, and the habits that remove most of it.
It’s standard Discord OAuth: the same “Authorize” screen every Discord-connected site uses. You log in on discord.com, Discord asks if you’re okay with it, and then tells us who you are. We never see your password.
The authorization screen lists exactly what we get:
- Who you are: your Discord ID, username, avatar and language setting. That’s what your dashboard account is built from.
- Your server list: only used to check whether you’re already in our Discord server.
- Join servers for you: so we can add you to our server automatically instead of making you hunt for an invite link.
We never receive your email, phone number, DMs or message history. The full list of what we store and for how long is in the Privacy Policy.
Because Discord is the account system. No email-and-password database to maintain (or leak), no “verify your email” loops. Your Discord identity is your login.
Everything else runs through the Discord server too: verification, VIP role sync, purchase tickets and support all happen there. The dashboard and the server need to know you’re the same person, and the login is what connects the two.
Free vs VIP
Full breakdown with feature comparison on the VIP page.
Buy it on the site: no ticket, no waiting on staff. Top up your balance from the VIP page (BLIK, PayPal, Revolut or crypto), then pick a plan and confirm. The price comes straight off your balance and VIP unlocks immediately.
Bank transfers are credited once a staff member checks the screenshot you upload; crypto deposits credit themselves once the transaction confirms.
Yes. The welcome pack gives you 24 hours of VIP free, once per account. It unlocks after your Discord account is at least a year old and you have 30 minutes of talk time on the script, and it appears on your Dashboard when you qualify.
You can also win VIP days from cases, and we run occasional giveaways in Discord. Otherwise the cheapest way in is the €2 three-day pass.
VIP purchases are final once your code is delivered. A code can’t be “un-issued”, so we can’t take it back (full details in the Terms; statutory consumer rights in your country are unaffected).
That said, “it doesn’t work” is a different story: open a ticket and we’ll fix it. The script not running, a code not redeeming, a feature misbehaving. That’s support, not a refund case, and it gets handled.
Unsure whether it’ll work for your setup? Use the free tier first: it runs the exact same script, or dip a toe in with the €2 three-day pass instead of committing to a full year on day one.
Your account automatically reverts to the free tier. No data is lost: history, ratings and settings are preserved.
Features
Select one or more cities or regions in the script settings. Every new connection is checked against them. If none match, the script auto-skips without any manual action.
Country level matching is the dependable part and city level is not, because a city is the level an IP reading drifts at: how IP geolocation works explains why, and filtering Ome.tv by country covers what this can and cannot do about who you meet.
The script checks the community ISP reputation score for each connection. If the score falls below your configured threshold it skips automatically, great for filtering VPN providers and low-quality networks.
No. API lookups run asynchronously and average under 50 ms. The video stream and UI are never blocked.
Mobile browser consoles are too limited for reliable use. The script is desktop-only. Use a laptop or PC.
Bans & Unban
Our ome.tv script doesn’t give Ome.tv much to ban you for. It doesn’t post anything, doesn’t spam their servers, doesn’t change what the other person sees. It reads connection data your browser already receives and looks it up through our API, not theirs. There’s nothing unusual happening on their side to detect.
Ome.tv is still their platform and their rules, so we won’t promise anything on their behalf, but in practice, bans come from the same place they always have: reports from other users and their moderation system, not from running the script. Behave normally on camera and you’re in the same boat as everyone else.
And if you do catch a ban, our step-by-step unban guide walks you through clearing it completely, and how long Ome.tv bans last tells you whether waiting is even an option in your case.
Ome.tv bans rely on three signals: browser fingerprint, account and IP address. To get fully unbanned you need to break the fingerprint and rotate the account. The IP is only a fallback if the first two aren’t enough. In that order, and all three, or it comes straight back.
- Change your browser fingerprint. Either move to a Chromium browser you’ve never used on Ome.tv, or reinstall your current one on an older version, and freeze its automatic updates before the first launch, or it silently updates itself back to the version you were banned on. Firefox is not an option.
- Change the account you sign in with. A genuinely new Google, Facebook or VK account, not the same one with a new password.
- Change your IP, only if you still need to. Router restart, mobile hotspot, or a VPN as a last resort.
Each step has details that decide whether it works: turning sync off first, declining the import prompt, and the three separate places a browser’s updater has to be switched off. The full walkthrough, with the exact paths for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Opera, is here: How to unban yourself on Ome.tv.
If you want the why rather than the how, read why Ome.tv bans you again minutes later. It covers what a fingerprint is made of and why sharing a PC with a banned person catches you too. If you are weighing a VPN first, does a VPN unban you on Ome.tv? answers that before you pay for one, and how to appeal an Ome.tv ban covers where to write and what the paid unban really is.
Affiliate Program
Every registered account automatically receives a unique referral code. When someone purchases VIP using your code, you earn a commission on that sale. You can track your earnings and request payouts directly from the Dashboard.
The rate is based on your total cumulative referred sales at the time of each purchase and is locked in permanently for that transaction:
- 10%: default (total referred sales below €50)
- 15%: once you hit €50 in total referred sales
- 20%: once you hit €200 in total referred sales
Rates are never recalculated retroactively. Each transaction keeps the rate it was assigned.
Open the Affiliate tab in your Dashboard and submit a withdrawal request. Requirements:
- Minimum payout is €5.00
- Payouts are sent via PayPal or Revolut
- You can only have one pending request at a time
- Withdrawals are processed manually by an admin. Allow some time for processing
Only users with the Affiliate partner role can change their code. To apply for the Affiliate role, open a support ticket in our #open-ticket channel. Regular and VIP users may share their auto-generated code but cannot modify it.
All users get a referral code and can earn commissions. The Affiliate Discord role is a dedicated partner tier (applied for via ticket) that comes with two extras: full VIP-level access and features (same permissions as a VIP subscriber), plus the ability to customize your referral code to something memorable and branded.
Your code is shown in the Affiliate tab of your Dashboard. Share it with others. When they use it at checkout, both of you benefit.
