Fixing Ome.tv overlay problems
Sorted by what you are seeing on screen rather than by what caused it. Most of these take under a minute.

Three checks before anything else
These three account for most of the tickets we get. Sixty seconds well spent.
- 01
Are you verified in Discord?
If you never reacted in the #verify channel, downloads and scripts both refuse, and the refusal looks like a button doing nothing.
- 02
Are you on a supported browser?
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Opera work. Firefox and Safari do not, and phones do not either.
- 03
Are you actually on ome.tv?
The overlay only ever runs on the ome.tv tab. Nothing happens anywhere else, on purpose.
The overlay never appears
You are on ome.tv, the page loads, and no panel shows up.
Using Brave? Turn fingerprint blocking off
This is the number one cause on Brave. Open Shields, the lion icon in the address bar, then Block fingerprinting, and set it to Disabled. Brave scrambles the browser details our script has to prove, and it reshuffles them per site and per session, so the script cannot show it is running on the machine it was built for.
The extension is installed but the folder moved
An extension loaded from a folder stops working if that folder is renamed, moved or deleted. Open your extensions page and look for an error on ome.undfnd loader. If the folder is gone, download the zip again, unzip it, and use Load unpacked once more.
You updated your browser since setting it up
A new browser version reads as a different device to the security check, so your existing script is refused. With the extension this fixes itself on the next load. If you paste manually, generate a fresh script.
Wait a few more seconds
The overlay loads several pieces before it draws anything, and on a slow connection that takes a moment. There is a small progress bar at the top of the page while it works. If that bar turns red it is telling you what failed, so read it before doing anything else.
A privacy extension is blocking it
Strict privacy add-ons, hardened browser profiles and some ad blockers stop the script from starting. Turn them off for ome.tv specifically and reload.
Problems while pasting the script
Only relevant if you are using the paste route rather than the extension.
Chrome is asking me to type "allow pasting"
That is normal and it is Chrome, not us. The first time you ever paste into the console, Chrome makes you type allow pasting and press Enter to prove you meant to. Do it once, then paste your script. It never asks again in that browser.
F12 does nothing
On many laptops the F keys control volume and brightness first, so you need to hold Fn with F12. On a Mac, F12 does not open developer tools at all. Two routes that always work: the browser menu, ⋮ → More tools → Developer tools, or right-clicking the page and choosing Inspect. Every route is listed in Getting started.
I pasted it but nothing happened
Check you are on the tab named Console inside the developer panel, not Elements, Sources or Network. Also check the panel is open on the ome.tv tab itself. Pasting into the console on your Dashboard is the single most common version of this, and it does nothing by design.
The script looks cut off
Always use the copy button on the Dashboard rather than selecting the text by hand. The script is long and clipboard managers truncate it, which produces an error that looks like the script is broken.
It worked, then stopped when I reloaded
That is how the paste route works: it lasts as long as the page does. Reloading clears it and you paste again. If that is annoying, the extension removes the step entirely and takes about two minutes to set up.
The overlay is there but the location is missing or wrong
The location appears, but it is the wrong city
Usually not a fault. The type of connection somebody is on decides how precise their address can be, and on a mobile connection it resolves to the provider head office, which is normally a capital city. Why the location is wrong explains which readings to trust and which to ignore.
You used up today's free lookups
A free account gets 600 welcome lookups to spend first, then 100 a day. When the day runs out the overlay keeps working but stops filling in the location until the daily reset, which your Dashboard prints on your own clock. Whichever of the two you are spending is the number shown in the panel and on your Dashboard. VIP removes the limit entirely.
The other person has not connected yet
There is nothing to look up until somebody is actually on the other end. The panel fills in a second or two after a connection starts.
The page had not finished loading when you pasted
Only affects the paste route. Pasting early attaches the overlay to parts of the page that do not exist yet. Reload ome.tv, wait for it to settle, then paste again.
Your script is old
Builds generated a long time ago drift out of step with the platform. Open your Dashboard and generate a new one, it takes seconds and keeps all of your settings.
Account, VIP and role problems
I paid for VIP but I am still on the free tier
Paying gives you a code, and the code is what upgrades the account. Enter it in the VIP Code field on your Dashboard. This is by far the most common reason somebody has paid and sees no change.
The Generate button does nothing
Three usual causes, in order: you are inside the one-minute cooldown after generating; you are not verified in Discord yet; or you signed in through a VPN, which the login blocks. For the last one, sign out, turn the VPN off, sign in again, then turn it back on.
My role or VIP is not showing
Sign out and back in. That triggers a full role sync from Discord and resolves nearly every stale role. If it is still wrong afterwards, open a ticket in #open-ticket and an admin can force a sync the same day.
I was working fine yesterday and now nothing works
Check whether your browser updated overnight, which happens silently and invalidates an existing script. Also check you are still signed in here: sessions expire after a long gap. Signing out and back in fixes both.
Still stuck after all of that
Open a ticket in #open-ticket on Discord and say which browser you are on, whether you use the extension or paste the script, and what you see on screen. Those three facts save an entire round of questions.
Blocked by Ome.tv itself?
A different problem with a different fix. If ome.tv is showing you a ban screen, nothing on this page applies, because the block is theirs and not ours.
Our overlay has no part in it either way. We cannot ban anybody from ome.tv and we cannot unban anybody either. What we can tell you is exactly what their ban attaches to and the order to clear it in, which is the unban guide.
Still stuck?
Tell us which browser you are on, whether you use the extension or paste the script, and what you see on screen. Those three things save a whole round of questions.
