  5. 05The short version

Ome.tv is one camera per side, so doing it as a duo means getting two people into one picture. There are three ways, and only the first needs your friends in the same room.

Key takeaways

  • In the same room, share one webcam. Nothing to install.
  • In different rooms, the OBS route needs a Discord call, a virtual camera and a virtual audio cable.
  • OME Party puts friends inside your video from any phone or computer: 2 friends for 2 hours a day on a free account, or 6 with no time limit on VIP.

1. One couch, one camera

The oldest way and still a good one: sit together, share the webcam, and take turns talking. Nothing to install. It only works when everybody is actually there, and a laptop camera frames two people badly.

2. A Discord call, glued in with OBS

This is what the "Ome.tv Discord cam" tutorials build. Capture the Discord call window in OBS next to your own camera, start OBS Virtual Camera and choose it in the browser. For the stranger to hear your friends, the Discord audio has to be routed into your microphone with a virtual audio cable, and then kept from echoing back into Discord.

  • Three programs have to agree: Discord, OBS and the audio cable.
  • Everything reaches the stranger with the delay of a screen capture on top of a call.
  • Every call runs through a virtual camera, which is also what bot accounts use (how Ome.tv bots behave).

3. Friends inside your video: OME Party

OME Party puts friends inside your Ome.tv video. They open an invite link on any phone or computer and sign in, and you choose who is on camera and where: up to 2 friends at once for 2 hours a day on a free account, or 6 with no time limit on VIP. The person you are talking to sees one video with all of you in it.

  • Eight layouts for the shared picture, and background removal for each friend.
  • Volume and mute per friend, and a choice of who hears whom.

OME Link and OME Party send video and sound over WebRTC, straight from the phone or the friend to the member’s computer. When the two cannot reach each other directly, the stream passes through our relay server, which forwards encrypted media it cannot decrypt and does not store. Nothing is recorded, and the party picture is put together on the member’s own computer.

Before you duo

The stranger sees all of you, so everybody in the picture answers for it. Party guests sign in for that reason: a party puts a second person in front of a stranger, and moderation needs a name attached. Bans on Ome.tv come from reports, and we cannot promise anything on Ome.tv’s behalf. If you post a clip, blur the stranger’s face.

The short version

Same room: share the camera. Different rooms: skip the OBS and audio-cable setup and put them in your video with OME Party, free for 2 friends and 2 hours a day. It runs in our extension on a desktop or laptop in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, and setup is a Discord sign-in and about two minutes.

Try it on your own Ome.tv

The OME.UNDFND extension shows the country, city and provider of every connection, right on the page. Free to start, and setup takes about two minutes.
